colour story 2

In this series, I explore various combinations and use the colour wheel to help me put colours together that I don’t usually work with. To see the first colour story click here.

Today I am experimenting with two primary colours; blue and yellow. I chose a more turquoise blue and a really bright lemon yellow and I wanted to see how these colours interact with one another. Of course, blue and yellow make green, and it’s interesting to see what shade of green these two colours make.

Mixing colours is a great way to diversify your skills as an artist and this kind of experimenting can help you discover new colours and shades that you can incorporate into your paintings. So instead of using a green straight from your palette why not mix up some different greens using just blues and yellows? You may find a new favourite colour.
